Your last shot doesn’t have to play the next one
You know that moment when you hit a bad shot, and you’re still thinking about it two holes later?
Or you step up to a putt you’ve made plenty of times, but now someone’s watching, and suddenly you’re thinking about every little thing?
That’s the part of the game I want to help you work on.

I’m Drew Amend, a therapist and hypnotherapist here in Wichita. I help people explore the patterns that get in the way of how they want to feel and respond.
On the course, that might mean second-guessing yourself, tightening up under pressure, or giving yourself a hard time after a mistake.
You’ve put time into practicing your swing. I’d like to help you give your mental game that same attention.
What to Expect: The 3 Hour Session
We set aside three hours, so there’s time to talk, work with hypnosis, and make sense of the experience without rushing.
First, I want to hear what happens for you out there. When do you feel comfortable? What gets under your skin? What are you saying to yourself as you walk toward the next shot?
You don’t need to prepare anything or know why it happens. That’s what we’ll explore together.
That conversation shapes the hypnosis. If you’re comfortable on the range but tense on the first tee, we have somewhere to begin. If one missed putt changes how you feel about the whole round, we can give that some attention.
The situations you describe, the words you use, and how you’d like to respond give our work its direction.
Then we take time to go deeper
The hypnosis portion takes about 90 minutes. I guide you into relaxation and focused attention, allowing time for you to settle into the experience.
My approach is collaborative. I offer guidance while making room for your own images, feelings, and insights. As we go, you can tell me what you’re noticing, and we can work with what feels relevant to you.
The visualization can become quite vivid for some people—almost like standing on the tee, feeling the club in your hands, and noticing that familiar pressure. For others, it’s more a feeling or an impression than a clear picture.
There’s no particular way you have to experience it.
We might explore why a missed shot feels so personal. We might rehearse staying with your routine when you feel watched, or letting a frustrating moment end so you can give the next shot your attention.
Before you leave, we talk through the experience and identify something practical to bring into your next round.
What could that look like on the course?
These are the kinds of changes I’d want us to work toward:
More focus under pressure
You notice the distractions, come back to your routine, and give your attention to the shot you’ve chosen.
Steadier confidence
You trust your preparation enough to commit, even when the last few holes haven’t gone your way.
A reset after a bad shot
You feel the frustration, take a breath, and turn toward what you need to do next.
I can’t promise a lower score or a frustration-free afternoon. What I can offer is time and personal attention to work on the pressure, the self-talk, and the response you bring to your next shot.
Have Questions?
You can reach out by just texting me at 316-416-6400
I might be with other clients but if you text me I'll get back to you and have a quick chat on the phone. |
At that time, I'll answer any questions you might have, and you can tell me what happens on the course and what you’d like to handle differently. Then, we can talk about whether a three-hour session feels like a good fit.
All the best!
